Fatima College presented The Honourable Anthony Garcia, Minister of Education with an honorary award on Monday October 3, 2016 for his service in the field of education and as a former Principal of the educational institution.

In an address to the students and teachers of the school, Minister Garcia praised the College for its success in academics and sporting activities. He attributed the school’s success to its exceptional and dedicated teachers, as well as the parents’ support group and the Fatima Old Boys’ Association (FOBA). He also commended the Association for its continued financial support that it renders to the sporting activities of the College. The Association is also responsible for the introduction of Smart Boards into the classrooms, thus making Fatima College one of the first secondary schools in the Caribbean to become e-compliant.

“Fatima boys are good boys,” the Minister said, as he reminisced on the days he served as principal at the school. Minister Garcia served as principal for nine (9) years, from 2000-2009. Father Gregory Augustine, the current Principal of the school, also offered kind words of encouragement to the Minister.

Also in attendance at the event were Acting Permanent Secretary Lenor Baptiste-Simmons, Chief Education Officer Harrilal Seecharan and President of FOBA, Dwight Andrews.
